Good morning. I have received your request for shoe donations and have some questions regarding your ministry.
Is this ministry a registered 501c-3 organization? Does this ministry have a board of directors? Is this ministry overseen by a church? What happens to the shoes that are donated? What exactly does this ministry do to help young adults in need? Do you have a personal testimony from a person who has been helped by your ministry? If so, can you provide contact information that I may contact them?

A while back, December of 2017 to be exact, you had some questions concerning our organization. At that time we were attempting a shoe donation fundraiser. The shoe donation consisted of acquiring as many complete pairs of shoes as possible after which time a third party group would pay us for the shoes based on total weight of all shoes collected and numbers of complete pairs. I’m not sure of the payment breakdown but we concluded that the shoe donation was too much work for little return.
You also asked if we were a registered 501-c-3 organization and the answer is, yes, we are. Our organization has a board of directors and we are not overseen by a church. However, we have worked with a few churches in the Dayton area. If you go to our webpage, StrandsofCompassion.org, it will tell you what it is that we do. We can provide you with some personal testimonies but please be aware that all of the young women that we work with have suffered severe emotional and physical trauma so their stories are of a very sensitive nature and we would ask that you just use a high degree of understanding when asking them questions.
