Connecting Families Education Schedule & Information

Connecting Families will meet 2x per month at Southbrook Church in Miamisburg, Ohio at 6:30 the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. Childcare will be provided at the meetings.

The 2nd Mondays of the month will be our training series that is geared toward education-(neurochemistry of fear, attachment issues, sensory processing, and…)

The 4th Mondays of the month will be our caregiver community support meetings. The topics will be determined and orchestrated by the group. We will brainstorm a few ideas at the Meet and Greet- (Connecting with our kids, handling transitions , school and education issues, foster care challenges, and…)

We will discuss ideas of serving in our community. Is there a family that could benefit from help around the yard this summer or a few meals here and there, maybe some temporary respite?

THE NEUROCHEMISTRY OF FEAR

Monday, September 11, 2023 at 6:30 P.M.

Lead by TBRI Practitioner Rhonda Cummins

Empowering caregivers and professionals to become healers in the lives of at-risk children to discuss interventions developed through work with families of at-risk children. Tragically, children who have been harmed, neglected, and/or abused are at significantly increased risk for behavioral disorders, relationship failures, and early onset mental illness.

If I can understand what’s going on with my child’s neurochemistry, then I have the ability to form a deep relationship with my child and develop trust. When I develop trust, we can begin to change brain chemistry.

Explore the impact of trauma on a developing brain and understand how fear, chronic stress, and trauma damage the structure, wiring, and chemistry of the brain, putting the child at risk for social, learning, and behavioral problems.

It’s the human interaction of looking into the eyes, being held, hearing the song of a mother, or feeling the strong shoulder of daddy, that begins to make the brain develop in very important ways for all of the life skills that will come.
